2010 Pinewood Derby

Our Pinewood Derby was held on March 27 at the church gym.  Congratulations to all of the kids who made cars and raced them at this years' Pinewood Derby!  We had some very creative cars this year (pictures coming soon), some of them were also fast.  A special congratulations goes to Nealon Derosier, who took home the first place trophy.  Adam Burch and John Chisolm took the second and third place trophies, respectively.

All of the times were recorded on the computer this year using GrandPrix Race Manager from Lisano Enterprises (very nice software and a great deal - thanks!).  We used the total time from 6 heats for each car (one run on each of six tracks) to determine the top 6.  The top 6 then had a championship round to determine the 3 trophy winners.  If you're interested in the statistics of the race, here they are!  The tables below give summaries but if you want all of the results from all of the heats you can download them as an ASCII file (.csv extension) or as a Microsoft Access database file
(.mdb extension) at the bottom of this page under attachments.  Enjoy!

The total time from all 6 heats:

The software put in a time of 9.9999 seconds if the car did not finish a race.  This affected the placement of the last several cars.  If we throw out the slowest heat here is how the results look:

If you thought some lanes were faster than others, here are the data:
